So we all know that there has been proof that the color of food provides different nutritional values ... but what are they exactly. Here is a short series explaining what each color means for your body.
Red colored fruits and vegetables offer:
- Lycopene - an antioxidant which helps protect the skin from sun damage and decreases the risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer
- Tomatoes have the most concentrated form of lycopene and the processed or concentrated forms have an even higher rate of lycopene (found in salsa and marinara sauce)
- Lycopene has been proven to decrease wheezing, asthma and shortness of breath in people when they exercise.
